About This Event

Durham Brass Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2026 with a week-long programme of spectacular performances, new commissions, free concerts, and community activities across County Durham. Taking inspiration from the region's rich brass band heritage, the festival stretches the boundaries of what brass music can be.

From traditional colliery bands to jazz, funk, and contemporary compositions, the festival features performances in venues ranging from Durham Cathedral to outdoor stages and intimate spaces. Highlights include emerging talent showcases, film and fantasy-inspired concerts, and spectacular closing performances.

With many events free to attend, the Durham Brass Festival is a wonderful celebration of musical heritage and innovation that brings the streets and venues of Durham alive with the sound of brass.
